Description
Hybrid Larch (Larix eurolepis)
Quality: 50-80 Bare-root
The hybrid larch combines the best of European and Japanese larch: it grows faster than both parent species, exhibits pronounced heterosis (vigor), and impresses in both forestry and landscaping with its remarkable strength.
Climatic Characteristics & Site Conditions:
Particularly recommended for the medium and higher altitudes of Southern Germany – it is less susceptible to larch canker than the European larch and tolerates drought better than the Japanese larch. A sustainable tree species for climate-adapted forestry.
Advantages: Highest growth potential of all larches, high wood quality, more disease-resistant, ideal for reforestation, beautiful autumn coloring.
Disadvantages: Like all larches, requires sufficient space and light; propagation only via seeds from controlled crossings, resulting in a higher price; not suitable for waterlogged sites.
